Save the 12-pack Jaffa Cakes

Save the 12-pack Jaffa Cakes
The Issue
McVitie's, the owner of the famous Jaffa Cake, have taken the decision to cut the number of Jaffa Cakes in a packet from 12 to 10. This is a whole fifth of the packet gone. Jaffa Cakes have long been a staple of British lifestyle, having been around since 1927. The core nature of the Jaffa Cake has remained unchanged for all those years, and we, the people of Britain, should not let it change now. If you need any more evidence of the love the nation has for this delicacy, in 2012 it was voted the best selling cake/biscuit in the United Kingdom.
It could be argued that if you require more Jaffa Cakes, then simply buy another packet. This is absurd. 12 Jaffa Cakes is just the right amount for one sitting. If I were to buy two packs of 10, I would have 20 Jaffa Cakes which is beyond the average Brit's consumption. Thus forcing them to be left in the cupboard where they will inevitably turn stale.
This is more than just about the Jaffa Cakes. This is about letting food companies know that when it comes to our favourite snacks, we shall not falter nor allow them to deny us the pleasure of having 12 Jaffa Cakes in one pack. I still remember my first Jaffa Cake; it had the surprising crunch of the chocolate on top. It was then followed by the gentle, tangy taste of the orange jam. Finally, your teeth are cushioned by the soft embrace of the sponge bottom.
If you care about the Jaffa Cake, and the future of British snacks, please sign this petition and bring some good into this world. It is our responsibility.
