Due to COVID-19, many of us, students and faculty alike, have had to readjust. Students have been sent back home to different time zones and different environments to finish off their semesters which is quite unfair. Universities like Harvard, Cooper Union, NYU, and MIT have already taken steps to give students the option of pass or fail due to the given circumstances. We paid tuition to be able to go to school and have a quiet place to study and get work done, not to be quarantined in our homes with other roommates, family members, children, pets, and all kinds of unknown disturbances. People are also working as essential employees wherever it may be, working tirelessly for people to get what they need, online school is not what most of us signed up for. Make this a fair learning experience for everyone. 

WHAT IS OPTIONAL PASS/FAIL? 

Optional Pass/Fail gives everyone an equal opportunity to take control of whats happening to their GPA's and grades this semester as a result of these unprecedented events. If a student were to choose to Opt in to P/F, they would receive the credits for the coursework with no grade, so thus, no affect on their current GPA. For students who want to receive letter grades which will affect their GPA, they should be given the option to opt out, so everyone will be graded as they see fit this semester. 

Signing this petition is not detrimental to anyone as the goal is to have P/F be optional NOT mandated!
