On August 27, 2020 hurricane Laura, a category 4 hurricane destroyed Lake Charles. My home, like many others, was destroyed. The city still doesn’t look the same today. No one had power for almost a month, leaving us students of McNeese State University stuck doing online assignments, which don’t teach us much. Many students are already have transferred or are considering transferring because of the inability of receiving a true college experience and true education. McNeese is doing everything they can, but sometimes it is not enough. McNeese needs to pass all students because it is only right thing to do. It’s one thing for a pandemic to occur; however, two hurricanes also hitting a prominent city do not merit us to continue with online classes as if “nothing happened.” Students and faculty are stressed more thank they’ve been in a while and this would certainly ease major concerns people are having about this semester.
