End Mckeel’s Hoodie And Hair Uniform Rules (to a minimum)
The Issue
Mckeel has gone insane with their rules. I understand no revealing clothing, no insanely inappropriate clothing items. But teens need to live a little. Mckeel has now made it, as of 2021-2022, for no outside hoodies to be worn. They all must be navy blue or gray or a expensive Mckeel hoodie. They also limit hair rules, no hair in the face, no unnatural colors, etc. this is just ruining a lot of creativity and self expression that could be created with the freedom of wearing a hoodie, or wearing your hair the way YOU want. Society honestly doesn’t care about your hair color unless your getting a professional job. And I’m sorry Mckeel, but this is highschool and we aren’t adults. We don’t want to be bland or normal. Let us live a bit.
let’s look at some benefits of ridding these rules.
- Happier community. People would feel more comfortable and more like themselves in their own hoodie or hair than being someone they aren’t used to being.
- Self Expression. Students can easily express their personality’s this way, and it brings more confidence and is a nice conversation starter.
- Helps with self esteem. Someone might be forced to dye their hair a color they don’t like. And they can’t dye it again, so they will feel quite out of place and might end up being more self concious
- Mckeels pricing is way too high. Your telling students to pay 35$ on a hoodie, 25$ on shirts, 50$ on skirts. I’m sorry Mckeel but not all family’s have a two way income, a fully paid off house and car. My point is, nobody wants to pay 250+ for a weeks worth of clothes. I get it you’ll wear it for a year, but you grow every year. So-
Lets look at the downsides
- Distracting. Maybe for the first day that you have your hair dyed or cut a certain way, people are going to be like “oh cool that’s new” but genuinely nobody is gonna sit there and be like “I can’t focus over this” like it’s hair, and it’ll be normal in the next few days.
- Not Ladylike/Masculine. Look it’s 2021 ain’t nobody care anymore and it’s not like our generation cares unless they were raised a specific way
let’s start a better wildcat community, all we want from this petition is a more laidback dress code with hoodies and hair.
