Mcdonalds, Please Switch Back to Using Paper Cups

Mcdonalds, Please Switch Back to Using Paper Cups
The Issue
We are asking for McDonald’s to go back to using paper cups.
We understand that they have been working for years on trying to make biodegradable cups, however, while they are still working on this, millions of the plastic cups are collecting in our landfills.
They should be switching back to paper while they are in this process of trying to create these biodegradable cups.
You may suggest that these plastic cups are recyclable, however in many areas they are not accepted in the recycling donations (such as in my area) and instead, every month, thousands of plastic cups are sitting and collecting in our landfills.
It could take up to 100 years for a single cup to degrade. Meanwhile paper cups could degrade in considerably less time.
We certainly appreciate that McDonald’s Corporation has moved towards creating biodegradable straws, but there is still more work to be done.
We have a moral responsibility for reducing how much accumulates in our landfills. We are leaving this trash for our children, and their children's children, when there are more sustainable solutions available.
We have to think about the environmental impact on our future generations.
We ask McDonalds Corporation to please hear our pleas and to continue to help to be part of the solution.
