Currently McCallum high school does not have a class for students interested in track. We instead have to train ourselves in the off season while balancing all of our classes, jobs, and other responsibilities. Other sports like football, soccer, and baseball all have scheduled time during the school day to work on their sport year around with their coaches. If McCallum were to implement a track class there would be less injuries when the season starts because we will have had time to work on proper form and lift. The track team would also place better at meets. We currently run against schools who can lift and run year around as part of their school day. At meets these schools are more prepared, more confident, and often place better at the meets. Having a track class at McCallum would be beneficial for both the students, coaches, and overall school.
