Demolition of Chauncey Drive

Demolition of Chauncey Drive
The Issue
We the community are coming to you to ask for the demolition of the Chauncey Drive Housing Project located in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
So many of our peers and family members have and are still laying to rest their sons, daughters, nieces and nephews. This housing project is a hot bed for black on black violence, drug use and crime. We are asking for relocation funds for the young men and women who are residing in this area. So that their children may be blessed to grow up, in a community that fosters safety and nurturing of our youth. We can not afford to lose another young life. Please make Chauncey Drive a memory, similarly to its neighbor Francis Street Projects. The future of our community depends on it.
According to Hud.gov the most recent inspection was conducted on March 12, 2019 in which Bedford Dwellings received a score of 24.7 compared to a state wide average of 82.7. The difference between the lowest score and highest score between 2013-2019 is 20 points. That speaks volumes that this area is not getting any better but indeed, getting worse. How many more young men and women have die before enough is enough? We the community can not fix this alone. We are asking our leaders and representatives to stand with us.
