Reinstatement of entertainment license at Water st musichall. Rochester N.Y.....On March 3
The Issue
The city of Rochester,N.Y. is trying not to reinstate the Entertainment license at Water Street musichall.Water st musichall is great venue!!! and is suffering the price of others.Accommodation venue for all styles of music,a opportunity venue for promoters to create a small business market. To this day number of shows have entered Water st music hall.It once held a event for Mr President Bill Clinton. The change will impact others who have family's and count on the venue to keep going without a entertainment license. It will be hard for employees To maintain a income, and count on the shows to work. And make a living from a paycheck as well as myself. There are not that many venues left in Rochester,N.Y. That can accommodate such acts that recommend a bigger size venue.Rochester,N.Y. Has already downsized on Jobs for our community,And now with this there won't be no more Water st music hall. Where we can enjoy, Entertainment. So I Ask you.The show must go on!!!!If we Win we will have the chance to make a diffrence and keep the shows coming in.If we lose its goodbye Water st.Please sign the petition. It's Time to make a change on What events come to Rochester,N.Y.Thank youOn March 3rd, 2016, The Water Street Music Hall received notice that the City of Rochester was planning on denying the recertification of their entertainment license.
The city has cited many incidents of which they have some concerns. While the city does have some valid concerns, a great deal of the incidents they are citing have been blown way out of proportion.
The fact is that the venue not only well over staffs for the shows that are known for issues, but routinely hires the Rochester Police Department to assist with traffic and crowd control.
In the letter dated March 1st, 2016, the City documents multiple incidents where the crowd has traversed the closed street and impeded traffic and vehicle traffic has created a hazardous situation. The blame now falls onto the venue, while the City whom received thousands of dollars for their assistance is held with no accountability for not being able to effectivly do the job they were hired to do.
In an open (and unanswered) letter to the Honerable Lovely Warren by a venue staff member dated February 9, 2016, many points were brought to her attention regarding the faulty system of venue certification and the way said venues are unjustly held accountable by officials for not being able to manage outside influences.
This same situation is aggravated by the City's unfair and biased dealings with other venues at different locations as well. The often quoted RPD's "Chiefs Rules and Regulations" is most often left to the interpretation of the officer in charge and changes from shift to shift. This in turn creates an unfair system of incident reporting which raises concern over the validity of the City's claims.
As previously stated, there ARE valid concerns regarding this venue. However holding it accountable for all incidents that happen within a 5 block radius during hours of operation as well as leaving reporting up to the whim of the the officer in charge, strongly lends to the theory that such accountability practices are both biased and racist and justifies the beliefs that the City has their own agenda regarding the venue.
The Water Street Music Hall has made strides in our City, bringing countless musical acts from around the world, hosting benefits and drawing patrons from all over the US and Canada boosting our local economy.
In closing, I would like to invite you to sign and share the attached petition and help them continue to support local musicians and events in the same safe and courtious manner for which they are known for.
By electronically signing this petition your are telling the City to re-evaluate the recertification of Water Street.
*This request is not endorsed by the Water Street Music Hall
