I live within the Saint Albans, WV City Limits with a fenced in back yard on a corner private lot. Elsa, is a sweet 9 month old Pot Belly Pig, who is basically a dog, but smarter. She is very sweet and loves cuddles, fluffy blankets, and my 3 year old daughter, Faith. The SA Humane officer left a notice on my door with a print out of the city ordinances. I called and talked to him and he said I had to rehome Elsa in 5 days or he would seize her since Saint Albans city ordinances prohibits mini pigs and considers them as farm animals. I work in the veterinary field and take extremely good care of all of my animals- they are more than animals- they are family! Councilman Walter Hall is helping me support a bill to change the city ordinance to allow mini pigs in Saint Albans City Limits as pets and as family! I would like the zoning ordinance changed to allow mini pigs to be kept indoors with access to a fenced in yard with free access to shelter, and leash walked within City Limits.
