The petition is simply the effort to bring minor league hockey back to Mobile.          With the Baybears moving to Huntsville leaving the city without any professional sport teams I believe it's time to bring hockey back to Mobile.                                            With plans to re-purpose the Civic Center plot with the idea of building a new complex in mind there is a possibility for a sports/live event arena to be placed in said complex which could sustain an ice hockey rink.                     

Huntsville and Birmingham have proved that hockey can thrive in Alabama and the Nashville Predators, Dallas Stars, and Tampa Bay Lightning have prove hockey can thrive in the Southern US so a popular port town such as Mobile would be the perfect city for a minor league team. The SPHL is always looking to expand to new cities and Mobile can and should be a perfect candidate!

Not only would this bring a new resurgence of interest in hockey in Mobile but it would create a healthy hockey rivalry with our neighbors in Pensacola and a new source of revenue to the city to fund other projects such as road repairs and a new bridge.                                                                                                                                    Not only can you have a hockey team present in the building but you could also leave it open as a recreational ice rink which would also bring in money for the city and bring a new way for families to spend quality time together.

With all of this said I hope you consider signing and I hope one day we can cheer for our beloved Mysticks one day soon, maybe the city and our mayor will listen to us and I believe a good way to achieve this is with a petition with signatures from many residents of the Mobile and surrounding areas would help influence his decision, Thank you!
