Universal Design is a unique method of designing homes and condos so that it can easily accommodate all people regardless of age, size, ability or disability. Like its name suggests it is universal and does not hinder the design from being aesthetically pleasing to all.

We need universal design because it is more INCLUSIVE. There are 2.6 million people in Ontario with disabilities and around 22% of people in Canada have some form of disability. Over 40% of people over the age of 60 develop a disability. We need to accommodate these people in our society.

It is very simple to accomplish like wider doorways, power door operator for suites, roll-out shower and balcony, and counters that can be lowered. This is only adding 1% to the cost if done at the planning level.
