Geary Rehearsal Factory is in danger of being sold to C3, a church organization that wants to convert the space to include a 1,500 person auditorium, a day care and an educational centre. C3 will need community approval to adjust the current zoning in order to proceed with their project. We are opposed due to the following reasons:

The neighbourhood infrastructure is already incredibly challenged and cannot support this type of influx. Smaller event space projects have been cancelled in the past because of zoning restrictions.

C3 is an organization that the surrounding residents do not want influencing the neighbourhood. It is a group mired in controversy on a global scale, and its opposition to same-sex marriage, cannabis culture and BLM do not align with the values of the Geary Ave. community. Former C3 members are emerging on a daily basis with evidence of cult tendencies, and many have been undergoing cult recovery counselling. 

The sale of the Rehearsal Factory buildings is a massive blow to arts and culture in our city. These spaces are amongst the last remaining affordable rehearsal and recording studios in Toronto. Geary Rehearsal Factory is home to 87 monthly rooms and 22 hourly rooms.
