Why this petition matters

I am a local business owner. I own and operate a local painting business. I was issued a ordinance to remove my “work” utility trailer from my driveway,  which I use it regularly. I don’t quite understand the issue or violation of it being in “my driveway” . From my understanding they have created an ordinance referring to storage and parking of Rvs, watercrafts, campers, off road vehicles, and utility trailers can’t be in park or stored in “your driveway”. They must be in back of house or on the side.  Which I don’t totally disagree with. For example someone who has any of the listed items, and that are being used or stored for seasonal purposes in a designated spot or area well maintained (driveway, car port, garage, side or back of property or some type of well indicated area) vs. in the front yard or left in the road. Because when I consider this ordinance as it is, I envision parking in a wherever it can fit manner and that’s it’s spot. Not something used regularly, almost daily parked in “my driveway”. My trailer is a direct link to my ability to make a living. It is well kept and when parked it is parked it’s in the back corner portion of my driveway closest to my house. Which 1) is the safest location clearly visible and under camera surveillance 2) I have no other place to put said trailer due to size of property, or safely without causing damage to my property (rutting my yard or destroying lawn and having the potential of not being able to remove trailer due to weather conditions) with the excessive use 3) it would cost $1000’s to properly  provide myself with accessibility to relocate trailer. So I guess what I’m asking for is the city of Danville’s city council and municipal to consider a revision of the city ordinance code. And try to work with the residents of Danville dealing with this issue and come up with a solution. Even some type of size restrictions on individual items stated earlier. For example just to give you some perspective let’s say depending on size. A water craft under this specified length. RV under this specified length can be parked in these areas, anything larger needs to be in these areas some type of realistic compromise. And to allow other people with similar circumstances to have the ability to continue to make a living or whatever it may be.
