Save Burquitlam's Urban Forest

Save Burquitlam's Urban Forest
The Issue
LET'S SAVE 6 BIG BEAUTIFUL X 100 FT+ TREES (PICTURED ABOVE) FROM BEING REMOVED @ 533 COTTONWOOD AVE in order to make room for more towers.
It is not acceptable to be cutting down such big beautiful trees during a climate crisis and when TMX is cutting down so many trees in the area as well. We need Big Trees in the area for the birds to get from Mundy park to Burnaby mountain. We need to maintain our wildlife corridors (Urban Forest).
Trees play an important role in the fight against climate change. We are in a climate crisis and as trees age their climate benefit grows.
A German study highlighted in a CBC article says: "The study found that the older a tree is, the better it absorbs carbon from the atmosphere. In fact, the research suggests that almost 70 per cent of all the carbon stored in trees is accumulated in the last half of their lives.
I have watched 50 x 100ft trees be removed from Cottonwood Ave in the past 3 months. There are 6 100ft+ trees at 533 Cottonwood Ave that will be cut down in weeks and I want to stop it.
Show the Coquitlam Mayor that we value and care for our Urban Forest. It defines Coquitlam. Let the trees at 533 Cottonwood Ave stay.
