This petition is to demand that a speed hump be installed on 17th st in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. 

17th is a busy street filled with many families who have small children and babies.  Cars can be seen and heard speeding up and down the street at all hours of the day without respite.  Every year we hear of, or see damage done to property caused by cars crashing into things along the street.  There have been many attempts by police to deter speeding but to no avail.

 On the 26th of May, one of our family’s children, Aiden (age 9), was struck by an SUV and has suffered traumatic injuries.  He was simply trying to cross the street near his home after playing with his neighbors.  His and his family’s lives will be forever impacted by a tragic accident that could have absolutely been avoided, if the appropriate safety precautions were in place.  

Quite a few of the streets surrounding ours have speed humps, we need one too.  The impact on Aiden’s life can’t be reversed, but we can prevent something like this from happening to someone else’s child.  I see no reason to wait.  Please sign this petition and help us get a speed hump installed on 17th st.
