Save CTL
The Issue
CTL has changed my life. I can't standby and watch an organization that gives so much to the community get kicked out of their home. That's why I felt the need to start this petition.
The CTL expanded into the third floor of their building five years ago to start the Community Academy of Stage and Theatre. To put it simply the City of Williamsport is now just running out the clock and choosing NOT to renew CTL's lease of the third floor. This expansion that CTL did five years ago was a chance to offer classes for students and adults alike year round, adding to their already successful summer camp programs. The 3rd floor also allowed CTL the space and room to grow new programs such as The Penguin Project and the Spotlight Program. These programs are made specifically for students and adults with mental and physical disabilities the chance to be on stage and in the spotlight. CTL was also able to expand their vocal coaching with two permanent vocal studios that help students and adults prep for auditions, get ready for college and improve their vocal health!
But it's not just educational programming it's seasons of shows that will no longer be able to be performed and viewed. It's special events and concerts that won't be produced. If this plan goes through it will have catastrophic consequences for ALL of CTL's programming and the downtown businesses who are visited by the thousands of CTL patrons.
If City Hall does in fact take over the building than CTL will have no choice but to cut programs that the community desperately needs. CTL has helped us all out, it's given us a chance to grow, to find friends, to get involved in our community and connect during even the hardest times. Now it's our turn to help them. Please consider signing and letting the City of Williamsport know that any plans that involve kicking CTL out of their current space just is wrong!
