Change the name of Franklin Street in Leominster, MA to Shadrach Minkins Street

The Issue

Shadrach Minkins was a slave who used the Underground Railroad to escape to Canada in 1850. His last stop in America was on 21 Franklin Street in Leominster, MA, at the home of France H. and Jonathan Drake, staunch abolitionists. While the Drake House was recently renovated by the city of Leominster, there is nothing that speaks of Minkin's flight to freedom. This unfortunately is a trend--slave narratives are usually silent. The city of Leominster should therefore rise to this moment of national reckoning and recognize Minkin's last stop by naming the street for him. Franklin Street in Leominster should be renamed Shadrach Minkins Street.
