On May 26th, 2020, I was given the news that the Clairton Pool will not be opening for the summer of 2020 amid the COVID-19 pandemic. My fellow lifeguards and I are devastated that we will be out of an amazing summer job. Clairton Pool is a place where families enjoy themselves and friends come down to have fun as well. This place is a home for a lot of people including myself during the summer. Govoner Wolf stated that pools can start to reopen in the yellow and green phases. While Allegheny County is still in the yellow, there is a very high chance of going into the green on 29th.

So the question is, why are we not opening???? The Answer to that is the city does not feel they can keep people safe while at the pool. I've been going to the pool for 16 years now and the city people rarely ever come down to make sure people are safe. The lifeguards are the ones that keep people safe at the pool. IT IS OUR JOB! 

With the right measures taken to make sure we follow CDC guidlines, I belive we have the right to open. In Elizabeth, the Buena Vista Swimming Pool announced they will be opening. That is not even 20 minutes away from the our pool.

The Clairton Pool brings in revenue for the city which barely has any businesses at all. I need your help to open this amazing pool for the city and for the people who rely on this place as a home.
