Equality for BMX sports in New Braunfels, Texas
The Issue
Texas is a BMX Meca, home to the largest BMX park in the world and some of the most progressive city sponsored BMX bike parks and systems. We are petitioning that City of New Braunfels either remove ordinances which penalize BMX riders at the local skate-parks or build and fund a facility for BMX sports.

Equality for BMX sports in New Braunfels, Texas
- Unfortunately, New Braunfels unfairly excludes BMX sports from their parks and public services
- New Braunfels enforces city ordinances which penalize and criminalize BMX action sports
- New Braunfels police have been issuing many tickets to young underprivileged adults for using local skate park facilities.
- This behavior unfairly favors skateboards/inline skates/skooters and discourages youths from being active, being social and from practicing their sport
- The i35 corridor is a BMX tourist route that most make when going from Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Dallas parks. New Braunfels is wastefully throwing away tourism money by making BMX illegal.
Legal
We believe Texas Immunity Doctrine provides protection of the City of reduced liability and the standards of care to ensure the skate park is safe are the same regardless of what sport you allow on the premise and therefore is no material addition liability added to allow BMX bikes
