LCEC has had a 20 year contract with the City of Cape Coral making them the sole provider of power creating a monopoly for our residents. In that time they have robbed the people of our community, charging higher prices then neighboring power providers, requiring unrealistic deposits based on PREVIOUS tenants, unwilling to change bill due dates because they bill by address making it impossible for some residents to EVER pay a bill on time, increase deposits with no options, increase costs, zero payment plans options, and rude customer service. The unjust and lack of professional business practice makes many families unable to pay their electric bill, or choose to pay electric bill over feeding their family or paying another bill. It is time that Cape Coral provides a promising future for our residents! If LCEC continues to monopolize our community, Cape Coral will lose a lot of people from moving to a FPL provider area and will not get new residents for fear of their electric bill putting them in the poor house. We urge you to do the right thing and NOT renew the LCEC contract!
