The Port of Oakland has given small independent trucking companies, most family owned and operated, 30 days to move. Land for trucking companies is incredibly hard to come by due to strict zoning laws by the city of Oakland. Most of these companies would be put out of business by this heartless act of cruelty and favoritism of big business during a pandemic. This incredibly outrageous decision was made in the midst of a supply chain crisis where Ports are backlogged with containers. This would only exasperate this crisis by putting these trucking companies out of business. The Port has offered no alternate land and no solutions. However, large trucking companies with deep pockets have not been affected. This would devastate these small businesses and the families that depend on them. Please help shed some light on this egregious act by signing this petition.
