Happy New Year!
Thank you everyone for your continued support. I'm sure our neighborhood deer would appreciate it too if they knew that their lives were in jeopardy.
Over a month ago the Pepperwood HOA sent out a biased deer survey designed to get the results they wanted. We are still waiting for the results.
There has been deer dialogue on both Nextdoor (a local social media platform) and Pepperwood Frontsteps (our neighborhood only website). There have been people speaking for the board, however, the board has been silent. Not sure why they won't speak for themselves.
I would suggest the Pepperwood HOA come out publicly and make a statement that they are not pursuing a deer kill now or in the future in Pepperwood and end this. They should initiate an amendment to the CC&R's leaving the deer issue to the state. It is not a neighborhood issue and the Pepperwood HOA has no authority to take any action. They can easily send out an email putting it to a vote to make this simple change.
Pepperwood should address the deer issue by first looking at eduction and non-lethal methods. We should look into how other communities have successfully learned to coexist with deer. Consideration should be given to appropriate fencing policies, enforcing no deer feeding, following speed limits, dogs should be on leash etc... A deer kill in our neighborhood is not the best solution.
Thank you for continuing to share this petition. We especially need local support from Sandy, UT residents. We live in an incredible place, with your support we can keep it that way.
