Don’t Denver our Springs

The Issue

Goodwin Knight (a construction Firm headed by Brian Bahr of Challenger homes) wants to built a 54 unit apartment complex in beautiful Old Colorado City. Of course, they won't do this in their neighborhood where their mountain views might be obstructed :(

The proposed site is in the middle of several thriving small businesses and several established neighborhoods, and to quote one shop owner, "The construction chaos alone will put us under. I don't understand why the city would do this to us after 25 years."

Another private homeowner said, "We just got approved for an improvement loan and are looking forward to doing our part to beautify our little neighborhood... this makes all of our efforts and those of our friends and neighbors kind of pointless."

These are real quotes from people I've spoken to guys. These are people that love their lives and location right here in Old Colorado City... time to put our foot down and say NO.

The last apartment building that this firm put up looks like a stack of shipping containers and created a parking nightmare and obstructed mountain views only 3 blocks away.

We live and work here on the West side of Colorado Springs for the open, eclectic, and beautiful simplicity that sets us apart from the “loft-laden” likes of Denver and Boulder. Let’s keep our views and historic value by telling these developers not to Denver our Springs.
