The Issue

Bayonne's Mayor Jimmy Davis and the City Council must reinstate its Contract with Liberty Humane Society!
Please sign and share this petition. The Mayor's office of the CIty of Bayonne, NJ has decided to end its contract with the Liberty Humane Society Shelter. This shelter works tirelessly to help every animal that comes through its doors. The City has not only ended their contract early without notice, to the Shelter, but has not shared any information as to where the resident's stray animals will go. Strays are pets and not a nuisance to be tossed around like yesterday's trash. The Shelter is equipped to give proper medical treatment and a safe place to stay until they can either be reclaimed or adopted out to a good home. Insist that the Mayor and City Council reinstate this contract for the humane and safe treatment of all Bayonne's animals.
This issue should not be about money but about doing what's right and humane. The quick link article below will better explain this situation. We ask that everyone sign and share to let our politicians know we care about the animal's welfare, stray, domestic and wildlife alike. The City of Bayonne suddenly voted to terminate mid-contract its animal control and sheltering agreement with Liberty Humane Society Shelter as of December 1st, without notifying them, due to alleged differences in their requirements regarding the humane treatment of wildlife. As of now, there is no public information about where Bayonne's stray animals will be taken or the care they will receive, or the services that will be available to the public. The CIty of Bayonne appears to be more concerned about trapping healthy wildlife and cannot answer as to the fate of those animals either.
We know the people of Bayonne care deeply for their pets and should demand that the City respond to this distressing situation by reinstating Liberty Humane Society.
We have a right to know where these animals will be brought for safekeeping during the mandatory 7 day hold, what are the hours the public can go there to find their lost pets, what is the required response time to gather a stray and how large is the staff of this other company and its ability to properly service Bayonne's needs. Please help us stand up for our pets. You can read our full statement on our website. http://www.libertyhumane.org/bayonne_termination
