We the citizens of Ottawa Ontario, have lost faith and trust of our police Chief, Charles Bordeleau.  He does not have the respect of the men and women serving under him due to his numerous demonstrations of poor judgement.  The investigation which was supposedly conducted by the OCPC was an inept attempt at best as "doing the right thing".  It was clearly a protective blanket being wrapped around the Chief.   He has repeatedly given a free pass to those he deems above the law but has demeaned and diminished his officers who are the ones out on the streets, doing the difficult jobs on a daily basis and putting their lives and careers on the line for us.  If the officers have lost faith and respect, how can we the citizens have faith or respect?  

The Ottawa Police Services Board is supposed to be the board to whom the Chief is accountable but the cronyism and nepotism on there is not only blatant but disheartening.  The PSB is supposed to be people who are impartial, not members or associated with any political party (real or perceived), who are well informed with some degree of experience in relevant areas..  

We demand that there be a full, transparent and in depth investigation be launched regarding the chief's actions over the past year including the ticket of his father in law, his diminishing his officers by comments made regarding their feelings about his conduct, his excusing misconduct allegations most recently and the lack of accountability and oversight by any body that has the teeth and willingness to impose sanctions or penalties on him.  We also want a review of the issues pertaining security at the court as sheriffs or police are the norm at courts across the country, not contracted private security.  We also demand that the membership of the PSB be reviewed and that there be members of that board who can bring balance, intelligent and informed questions and who will not satisfied with the status quo.  

Respect must be earned and the members of the Ottawa Police Service,at the working levels, deserve to have a leader that they can respect.
