Covid-19 is spreading quickly in Oklahoma City. Public health officials and the Oklahoma State Medical Association have stated that the most effective way to prevent and slow spread of Covid-19 is to wear masks in public. This is only effective if the vast majority of those in public spaces are masking. But many OKC citizens continue to go without masks while in public. 

We are petitioning Mayor Holt to make wearing cloth facial coverings over the nose and mouth mandatory in public spaces in Oklahoma City. Masks should be required in public with particular emphasis on indoor spaces and outdoor gatherings where social distancing cannot be easily achieved. Making masks mandatory is the only feasible way to achieve slowing of spread while allowing businesses to remain open. 

Too many of our citizens have already lost their lives and Mayor Holt has the power to prevent further loss of life. Please make mask-wearing mandatory in public spaces in Oklahoma City.
