Hi! I'm the fiercest Asian woman in the world and in NYC. So today I decided to start this petition.

From early May of 2021, I found my favorite activity in the city, which is playing the swings in the children's playgrounds, and it magically makes me happier and it lifts my spirits.

 Unfortunately, the rules and regulations for New York City parks provide for “Exclusive Children's Playgrounds” in which adults are “allowed in playground areas only when accompanied by a child under the age of twelve". This means it is unlawful for an adult to go into the playgrounds without being the companionship of a child. Sometimes I had to sneak into the park and pretend that I'm a young teenager, or came in at late night or very early in the morning. Despite all these efforts I made for playing on the swing, there are still some people being suspicious of me, staring at me, and asked me if I was "high" in the morning of 8 am when I was focus on eating the sweet pork bun in the playground near my neighborhood. Which I understand and highly respect.

I wish to have swings for adults in NYC. No one wants adults on a children's playground. I do want the city to add swings for adults in public spaces in public parks currently accessible by adults. In my mind, I'm a kid and will never actually grow up and I'll be a kid forever. I'm sure there are many more people who are also looking for this type of relaxation. All the children will eventually grow up to be adults one day, but that shouldn't mean that they have to stop playing.

As a Chinese immigrant who has been in NYC for 4 years, I noticed It's hard for me to find an area to relax and it's difficult to find a safe place to be myself in this country. I believe there are many others people who demand the same needs!
