We are experiencing an unprecedented, yet eerily familiar time in history. Those marching for justice in our communities have taken to the streets to make their voices heard. Now, more than ever, we must destroy racial boundaries rooted in segregation

It is unacceptable that in the year 2020, a full 56 years after the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, there exists a street in our city with a name originating in a history of segregation. 

Through this petition we aim to rename Division Ave, located in downtown Orlando, to something that highlights the strength and unity shown by the Orlando community - especially as we've seen in the past few weeks.

Examples include Unity Blvd, Alzo Reddick Sr. Ave, and more. An even simpler change would be to remove the first two letters Di and change the road's name to Vision Avenue.

Mayor Buddy Dyer has the power to enact this change and we, the people of Orlando, implore him to make a positive change towards the unity of our community. This simple act will show his solidarity with our community and just how far Orlando and our society have come.
