Tell Mayor Brett Gailey to Stop the Downtown Flooding

Tell Mayor Brett Gailey to Stop the Downtown Flooding
The Issue
Year after year, the Hartford Drive community and others around the Downtown area of Lake Stevens have been plagued by severe flooding, jeopardizing homes, personal belongings and destroying property.
We’ve heard the proposed contract, and listened as specialists in their field explained why these flooding events occur. An outdated weir, incapable of controlling the level of Lake Stevens, outflow channels unable to accommodate water from heavy rain events, an undersized culvert where Catherine Creek meets the lakes outflow channel. All of these issues combine to create a perfect storm, one that the city has known about for years and years, as the majority of these structures are man made.
Men created this storm, now it’s time for the City of Lake Stevens, Mayor Brett Gailey and the City Council to approve funding for the massive Lake Stevens Outflow Study Project.
Not only will the residents of Hartford drive and other communities benefit, but so will the residents around the lake, their docks are at risk when the level of the lake can’t be controlled. So too will the habitat for fish and wildlife will be greatly improved, movement of fish and wildlife will be encouraged into Catherine Creek.
Please help us make our voices heard, it’s time for the City to right the wrongs and take the horrendous, inexcusable and embarrassing flooding seriously.
