Hello Everyone,

As a native Washingtonian and lifelong Democrat, I’m deeply embarrassed by the conduct currently being encouraged by the National Democratic Party. The party urgently needs reform—fresh leadership with a clear, future-focused vision that everyday Americans can understand and support.

This mob mentality—burning Tesla cars and targeting an American car manufacturer—is nothing short of madness. Elon Musk is not only a respected engineer and technology innovator, but someone who has taken on the difficult task of exposing waste, fraud, and abuse in our government. He deserves fair treatment, not vilification.

Mayor Bowser should take a firm stand: anyone threatening public safety or committing acts of arson will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Instead, she remains silent. I haven’t seen Democrats this angry since the GOP ended slavery.

Elected office is meant to serve the public good—not personal enrichment. Democracy demands transparency and accountability. Elon Musk, the creator of the first reusable spacecraft, should be applauded—not demonized. If some of you were around during the time of Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, or the Wright brothers, you probably would have crucified them too.

We, the American people, will stand with Elon Musk and DOGE until the truth is fully revealed. Stay silent if you must, Mayor Bowser—we see what’s happening.

Ernest E. Johnson is a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Mayor of the District of Columbia. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Mathematics from the University of Maryland Global Campus. He is currently completing a master’s degree in Government at Harvard University.
