We all want to enjoy the promise and beauty of the nation’s capital. But leadership requires more than good intentions—it requires integrity, vision, and the courage to act without needing to be prodded, pushed, or threatened.

Mayor Bowser, we cannot be led like children. Either stand up or step aside. The 700,000 residents of Washington, D.C., deserve full representation and leadership that meets the moment.

The strongest leaders don’t demand respect—they earn it by being consistent, compassionate, and principled.

While President Trump granted pardons and clemency to MPD officers convicted in connection with the death of 20-year-old Karon Hylton-Brown, one voice has been painfully silent: Mayor Muriel Bowser. Not one word from her or MPD Chief Pam Smith about what this says about the culture of our police force or who is fit to serve the people of D.C.

Karon Hylton-Brown’s mother has every right to be outraged. We all should be.

As a candidate for the Democratic nomination for Mayor of the Nation’s Capital, I pledge to lead with clarity and purpose. If elected, I will immediately issue an executive order and submit legislation to reorganize the Metropolitan Police Department and our local courts. Internal investigations and judicial findings will guide who can—and cannot—wear the MPD badge.

This isn’t about politics. It’s about justice, public trust, and professional standards.

We deserve leadership that doesn’t flinch, fold, or hide when it matters most.
