There has been a decision made to close down a lane on the Brooklyn Bridge to create a bike lane. It has been said that there is OCCASIONAL high bike traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge because of bicyclist and they claim there should be more space. However, imagine the traffic and mess that would be created by closing down a lane of traffic on one of the most heavily traveled bridges by cars between Brooklyn and Manhattan. The traffic caused by such an action would back up downtown Manhattan, downtown Brooklyn, and the Brooklyn Queens Expressway with vehicle traffic. The amount of people who use this bridge to commute home, to work, and pass through the city that use cars is tremendous and creating traffic via a bike lane would be extremely detrimental. Let’s stop Deblasio and the City from ruining the bridge that everyone loves driving on, a New York icon. There has been havoc created by changes to traffic laws for bicyclist and this bike lane will be no different. Instead of offering proper solutions for bicyclist the city continues to put restrictions on vehicles and create traffic while imposing flawed solutions for bicyclist.
