Maury County, Tennessee is facing a Covid-19 crisis. This county has the highest infection rate of any county in Tennessee. Our county mayor has ignored a recommendation from the Governor to issue a mask mandate. Mayor Andy Ogles shares misinformation on his Facebook, Twitter and Parler account including

• Masks do not work
• It is unconstitutional to issue a mask mandate
• Herd Immunity is best way to deal with COVID-19
• This pandemic is a hoax by the liberal media and Democrats to control the American people and destroy President Trumps re election chances. 

The facts are Today (11/16) we have 275 new cases in Maury County out of 1469 tests. We have a total of 5094 cases. The positivity rate for today is 20.29% and the 7-day average is 20.63%. We have 1071 active cases - our highest to date by far. Because of our very high positivity rate, our actual number of active cases is likely much higher. Our 7-day average for daily new cases is 104.

This high number is not due to a backlog in tests per Tennessee Department Public Health Department. 

Maury County Public Schools has announced immediate virtual learning for the entire school district for the first time. Our hospital is full. The entire state has only 9% ICU beds available. 

We DEMAND that Mayor Ogles issue a mask mandate immediately.

We also DEMAND he refrain from posting disinformation meant to disuade residents to ignore CDC, WHO, and Public Health recommendations of wearing a mask, social distancing, and washing hands frequently or using hand sanitizer on social media.

We further DEMAND that he follow all recommendations by the Tennessee Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control currently and in the future with regards to preventing the spread of Covid-19.
