Michael Haimes, 29 of Coral Springs FL, is charged with sexual conduct with an animal and causing the cruel death, pain and suffering of an animal.

Haimes has lived in Broward County for 23 years and in currently unemployed. Haimes is accused on having sex with a dog in his residence and then repeatedly stabbed the dog thoughout its body. He then proceeded the cut the dog’s throat.

The Sun-Sentinel reported that the police were call to the residence “due to a mental illness call”. They smelled the odor of a decomposing body. After searching the nearby wooded area near his home, they discovered a blue leash and a white dog nearby.

During the police interview, Haimes said the dog was on his bed before the alleged rape. After the sex act he said the dog was bleeding, so he sliced the dog’s throat and threw its body in the bushes fearing he would be caught.

Haimes appeared before Honorable Judge John “Jay” Hurley who ordered him to wear an ankle monitor and set his bond at $50,000. Judge Hurley also instructed him not to have any contact with animals should be bond out from jail. Judge Hurley stated "The court is concerned with what appears to be absolutely just spontaneous, unforeseen, inappropriate violence to an animal. The court lacks confidence in the defendant's ability to control his own behavior."
