State Police in Schodack have arrested a man for animal cruelty after a cat and her kittens were found in a box that was taped shut, and thrown in a dumpster.

Neighbor who discovered the horror says, "When I lifted up the top, there was a poor cat with its head coming out of duct tape. Somebody had duct-taped the box shut - She clawed her way out and she clawed her way through the duct tape and somehow she got her neck out but still the box was choking her to death." She adds that the cats were in such bad shape that they couldn't even make noise.

43-year-old Ryan Dorr, of Nassau, has been charged with four counts of Abandoning an Injured Animal, all misdeanors. He plead not guilty in court on Thursday night.

Authorities said the mother cat and her three newborn kittens were found inside a dumpster near 3 Malden Street in Nassau, in a box duct taped closed. The mother cat had also been shot in the back with a pellet gun.

While police say Dorr admitted to throwing the animals in the dumpster, they believe someone else shot the cat. That investigation is still ongoing.

Dorr's bail is set at $2,500. If convicted, he could face ONLY up to one year in prison.

We request that Ryan A. Dorr be charged with Felony animal abuse and NOT a Misdemeanor.

Ryan A. Dorr admittedly duct-taped the box with the injured mama cat and her babies inside- and placed them in a dumpster- leaving them to die... This case should be treated as a FELONY abuse case NOT a MISDEMEANOR!!!

His intentions were clear- He left them to DIE!

Also, we would like to request Ryan A. Dorr NEVER be allowed to own, care for, or work around animals- Animal abuse has escalated and stricter animal abuse laws need to be set.

Please push for maximum felony charges of animal cruelty/abuse and neglect to living beings, is a felony and will be treated as such.
