Residents Against Carters Creek Commercial Zoning
The Issue
The Property Owner of 1431 Carters Creek Pike has filed an application to rezone the corner of Gravel Hill Road & Carters Creek from Residential to Commercial 1 (catty corner to the prior proposed Dollar General lot commercial rezoning that failed. Rezoning any of Carters Creek for any commercial business will have serious consequences including:
1.) Lack of Preservation of Carters Creek - (creates noise problems, excessive lights in the countryside, beginning of many more lots being rezoned commercial
2.) Crime - increased with commercial businesses, additional cost for sheriff patrol and responses.
3.) Traffic - dangerous road already, not designed to handle heavy traffic, several traffic accident and fatalities in recent years, dangerous for school buses dropping off children, excessive pollution from littering, etc.
4) Property Values - commercial rezoning will devastate property values. Unfair to homeowners that purchased in what should clearly remain a residential area of Maury County. There is an abundance of property in the Commercial Zones and a thoughtful master plan from the County should include commercial zones separate from residential.
5) Maury County Comprehensive Plan - County paid a substantial amount of money to a 3rd party for this plan and this does not comply with the adopted plan by the Planning Commission.
