Due to a small mistake on my husbands self assessment tax return in the year 2018 to 2019 we have been unable to get any financial support from the government for the inability to work during the covid19 pandemic. This has left us, and I'm sure hundreds if not thousands of other households unable to to pay our bills and having to borrow money just to feed our family. My husband has been self employed for approximately 15 years and can prove this with wage slips and bank statements yet this error on one years self assessment makes it look as if he was PAYE. As he is not PAYE we can't apply for the furlough either. This stupid loop prevents us getting any financial help.

The point of this grant is to help people in exactly our situation so why are the government making it so difficult to receive the help? We are hard working, tax paying, people who followed government guidance to stay home! We should not have to face poverty because of this. The government should be giving this grant to all self employed citizens, not creating barriers and loop holes to get out of paying out the grant money to those who need it most of all.
