Save Hotel Earlington

Save Hotel Earlington

The Issue

Hotel Earlington is currently being restored as fast as possible and I believe the city is giving an unreasonable deadline. By October 31st, 2019 the property is to be in livable condition or face a demolition order. The property has been vacant and slowly deteriorating since 2005 (16 YEARS!)

March of 2019 a restoration effort began of which has resulted in the hotel being cleared of all its garbage, lawn upkeep, Painting, and Installing doors. For an almost 5000sqft hotel this is a huge feat! We still have much to do including; tearing down the rear wing for rebuild, framing and replacing windows, running all plumbing, running all electrical, rebuilding porch(front and rear), repairing eaves, refinishing floors, finish painting exterior, rebuilding rear wing, all roofing and framing of rear wing, and soo much more!

Upon purchase of property shortly after we were told we had 6 months to make "Significant Improvement on the exterior". After asking what that meant we were told "Paint, eaves, porch, and windows. Basically the curb appeal needs to make "significant improvement." With this is mind we began restoration.

Today (8/14/19) we receive a "STOP WORK" order on the Hotel and naturally go to the city hall to see what was going on. Upon discussion we were told the property had not been making significant progress and that the deadline is approaching. I ask for a definition of "Significant improvement" we agreed on at the beginning of this journey to be told the entire property has to be habitable by October 31st 2019 or face further litigation for the demolition of the hotel.

WE WANT TIME!

Just give us the time to restore it correctly and save the Hotel. Allow it to be a building Earlington is proud to have, front and center as it once was.

We ask you and everyone please share this and just maybe...

...

Together we can save Hotel Earlington.
