My school, Pickering Middle School in Lynn Massachusetts, is 100 years old and breaking down. There’s writing all over the chairs in the auditorium of inappropriate slurs and inappropriate pictures. It’s same situation in the bathroom but worse.

Heaters don’t work, needs a paint job, etc. I’ve been there two years and seen no difference in the schools horrible condition and I want to make a change. We have plays and when my aunt came to watch the show she had trouble picking a seat because half the seats are broken, not even there, or have gaping holes in them. 

Also, this school is meant for one hundred thirty students yet teaches up to 600. This school is running out of space. 

I think our school could use more than some new textbooks- which already have more inappropriate writing in them. Our community could use a good public school to send their children to. 

If we win this fight and get Pickering fixed I think more kids would value their education. They would be in a better workspace and try harder. I understand most kids won’t care much about their education anyways- nice school or not- but I can promise you, the hardworking students would appreciate it.

Now, there’s always a chance we could lose. I predict that at the rate it’s going at, more and more students will resort to vape, marijuana, and more drugs. More nudes being posted. More swearing in the halls and at teachers. And more fights.

Edit: I was just informed that the City Of Lynn has noticed that it needed repairs and were supposed to fix them, but did nothing because of taxes.
