Mashallah Karami, the father of 21-year-old Mohammad Mehdi Karami, who was executed by the Islamic Republic on January 7, 2023, is in trouble and NEEDS YOUR HELP!

In the weeks leading up to the 1-year anniversary of Mahsa Jina Amini's death, the Islamic Republic began arresting the relatives of individuals who were previously killed by the regime amid the protests. One of those relatives is Mashallah Karami. On August 22, 2023, regime forces raided Mashallah Karami's house, confiscated his phone and laptop, arrested Mashallah Karami, and transported him to an interrogation center in Karaj, Iran — the same center where his son was interrogated and tortured.

Following the execution of his son, Mashallah Karami dedicated much of his time to visiting his son's grave and the graves of other victims of the Islamic Republic, including Seyed Mohammad Hosseini, who was executed on the same night as his son. He has also dedicated time to distributing food to the less fortunate, bearing the names of those who lost their lives at the hands of the regime. These are his so-called crimes.

The Islamic Republic is claiming that he hikes to his son's grave to mimic Arbaeen, a pilgrimage ritual that commemorates the death of Imam Hussein (the grandson of Prophet Muhammad in Islam), to claim that the protestors are martyrs. Mashallah's other "crimes" include carrying a photo of his son on his hikes, being in contact with the relatives of other political prisoners, and taking photographs at other protestors' graves. 

***He is currently under severe psychological torture to make false confessions***, particularly as he is reminded of the torture his son endured within the confines of the same walls. Historically, the regime tortures prisoners to extract a sufficient number of false confessions to worsen their verdicts during sham trials. ***Thus, there is a significant concern for Mashallah Karami's life.***

Further, his family has been forced into silence. Their every move is being monitored. They have very limited interactions with the outside world and have been forced into complete isolation. They are only permitted to visit Mohammad Mehdi Karami's grave alone and are prohibited from visiting any other graves and from interacting with anyone. Mashallah Karami's lawyer, Amir Hossein Kohkan, is also currently in prison. 

We must be the voice of the voiceless! In the past year, the international community's efforts to save political prisoners have saved lives. Thus, we are asking the international community to be the voice of Mashallah Karami and his lawyer (Amir Hossein Kokhan) to save their life by urging the regime to release them immediately and drop all the charges against them.

 

ماشاالله کرمی، پدر محمدمهدی کرمی ۲۱ ساله که در ۱۷ دی ۱۴۰۲ توسط جمهوری اسلامی اعدام شد، دچار مشکل شده و به کمک شما نیاز دارد!

 در هفته‌های منتهی به اولین سالگرد درگذشت مهسا ژینا امینی، جمهوری اسلامی دستگیری بستگان افرادی را که قبلاً توسط رژیم در اعتراضات کشته شده‌بودند را آغاز کرد. یکی از آن افراد ماشاالله کرمی است. در ۳۱ مرداد ۱۴۰۲ رژیم با یورش به منزل ماشاالله کرمی، خانه‌ی او را تفتیش کرد و لپ‌تاپ و تلفن‌های همراه او را به سرقت برد. ماشاالله کرمی که تنها نان‌آور خانه است دستگیر و به یک مرکز بازجویی در کرج، همان مرکزی که پسرش در آن‌جا مورد بازجویی و شکنجه قرار گرفته بود، منتقل شد.

 ماشاالله کرمی پس از اعدام فرزندش، بیشتر وقت خود را به زیارت مزار فرزندش و دیگر قربانیان جمهوری‌اسلامی از جمله سید محمد حسینی که در همان شب با فرزندش اعدام گردید، اختصاص داده بود. او همچنین زمان خود را وقف توزیع مواد غذایی برای افراد نیازمند کرده بود. بر روی ظرف‌های غذا، نام کسانی‌که توسط جمهوری اسلامی کشته شده بودند را می‌نوشت. این موارد به اصطلاح جنایات اوست (از نظر جمهوری‌اسلامی).

 جمهوری‌اسلامی مدعی است که او برای تقلید از اربعین (مراسم زیارتی که به یاد رحلت امام حسین (نوه پیامبر اسلام) است) به سمت قبر پسرش راهپیمائی می‌کند تا ادعا کند که معترضان شهید هستند.

 از دیگر «جنایت‌های» ماشاالله می‌توان به حمل عکس پسرش در راهپیمایی‌هایش، تماس با بستگان دیگر زندانیان سیاسی و عکس‌برداری به همراه دیگران در کنار مزار دیگر معترضان اشاره کرد.

 او در حال حاضر تحت شکنجه‌های شدید روانی برای اجبار به اعتراف‌های دروغین است، به‌ویژه به خاطر یادآوری او از شکنجه‌هایی که پسرش در محدوده همان دیوارهای سلول بازجویی‌اش متحمل شده‌است. در طول تاریخ نشان داده شده که رژیم زندانیان را تا زمانی که تعداد کافی اعترافات دروغین به منظور تشدید احکام آن‌ها در طول محاکمات ساختگی ارائه کنند تحت شکنجه قرار می‌دهد. در این رابطه نگرانی شدیدی در تشدید حکم ماشالله کرمی وجود دارد. 

علاوه بر این، خانواده او مجبور به سکوت شده‌اند. هر حرکت آن‌ها تحت نظر است. آن‌ها تعاملات بسیار محدودی با دنیای بیرون دارند و مجبور به انزوای کامل شده اند. زیارت مزار محمدمهدی کرمی به تنهایی مجاز است و زیارت قبور دیگر و ارتباط با کسی ممنوع است. وکیل ماشالله کرمی، امیرحسین کوهکن  نیز در حال حاضر در زندان است.

 ما باید صدای بی‌صداها باشیم! در سال گذشته، تلاش‌های جامعه بین‌المللی برای نجات زندانیان سیاسی جان افراد بسیاری را نجات داده است. بنابراین، ما از جامعه جهانی می خواهیم که صدای ماشالله کرمی و وکیل او (امیرحسین کوهکن) را به جهان برسانند تا جانشان را نجات دهند و رژیم را مجبور کنند تا فورا آنها را آزاد و اتهامات عیلهشان را لغو کند.
