As many people have known, Super Smash Bros. is all about putting your favorite video game characters in one setting as they battle it out. The series started out as crossover between the library of Nintendo but as of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. All third-party characters that have been in prior games who were considered guests have been featured as part of the massive roster making it a huge celebration of gaming. It almost feels like anyone can join.

A particular character I’m petitioning for is Sackboy from the LittleBigPlanet series. Who is Sackboy and what is LittleBigPlanet? LittleBigPlanet is a game developed by Media Molecule on the PlayStation 3 console released in 2008. The series revolve around creativity and as such you create levels with puzzling elements.The series is known for it’s “Play, Create, Share” features in which hundreds of levels have been published. The first installment basically revolves around level designing. There were several games continued in the series and the creating evolves around these games. Other games include LittleBigPlanet PSP, Sackboy’s Prehistoric Move, which was a tech demo for the usage of PlayStation Move controller. The next games in the mainline series is LittleBigPlanet 2, released in 2011. LBP2 included more variety of ways to level creativity plus you can create games within the game. LittleBigPlanet 3, released both on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, was the first game made during LBP’s ownership by Sumo Digital. Spin-Offs in the series are LittleBigPlanet Karting; the first game which sees Sackboy in a 3D environment. Finally we have, Sackboy: A Big Adventure; which primarily focuses on the play segment, released on PlayStation 4 and Playstation 5.

The reason I’m choosing Sackboy is because:

• Sackboy is one the well-known gaming mascots in the 2000s era. Ever since his debut, he became one of the most recognizable characters on the PlayStation 3 alongside Kratos, Nathan Drake, and Cole MacGrath.
• Speaking of PlayStation, Sackboy is a good recommendation as a representation of the company, seeing his status as a mascot. With Microsoft being represented not once but twice, it’s only fair PlayStation gets their own character in Smash.
• We might manage to accomplish the dream of having Nintendo, Microsoft, and PlayStation in one officially licensed video game crossover.

Sackboy would definitely have a chance to join the battle with an all-star cast of popular gaming icons, as this is probably not his first time duking things out as he has fought his fellow PlayStation heroes in a certain Battle Royale.
