Dear Delegates,
We as a Community Voice and citizens of Maryland on behalf of Adedire Olarewaju Ososanya and family we are closely following the case of “Dire” who was killed on December 17th, 2015 by a hardened and a repeated drunk driver by the name James Scott Calero. Adedire was a rising star of his generation, before his bright life and beautiful future was cut in short in a fatal car crash, meanwhile, the alleged drunk driver only sustained non-life threatening injuries. To our greatest surprise, we read and heard in the news that the nine charges listed below against Mr. Calero relating to this case were dropped and closed.
1. Driving Vehicle while under the influence of Alcohol (0000000460Q0N) Case closed.
2. Driving Vehicle while under the influence of Alcohol /Traffic System (0000000470Q0N) Case closed.
3. Driving Vehicle while so far impaired by Drugs, Drugs and Alcohol Cannot Drive Safely (0000000480Q0N) Case closed.
4. Negligent Driving Vehicle in careless and imprudent manner endangering property, life and person (0000000490Q0N) Case closed.
5. Reckless Driving Vehicle in Wanton and Willful Disregard for Safety of Person and Property (00000004B0Q0N) Case closed.
6. Driver Failure to Obey Properly Placed Traffic Control Device Instructions (00000004C0Q0N)
Case closed.
7. Failure to Control Vehicle Speed on Highway to Avoid Collision (00000004D0Q0N) Case closed.
8. Failure to Drive Vehicle On Right Half of Roadway When Required (00000004F0Q0N) Case closed.
9. Directing and Permitting Hwy. Vehicle Operation Contrary to Law (00000004G0Q0N) Case closed.
We also discovered that Mr. Calero and his attorney were not present at the hearing on December 22, 2015 and all the cases were closed in Nolle Prosequi status meaning (unwilling to pursue or do not prosecute). It is totally unacceptable and unlawful for a repeated offender with numerous criminal charges, including domestic violence and traffic violations to be set free and continue his lifestyle in the same barbaric manner. Our point is, if Mr. Calero has been taken off the streets of our community for his previous atrocities he would not have been able to kill innocent “Dire”.
Despite the fact that our beloved Adedire Olarewaju Ososanya can no longer be with us, we are asking for justice on his behalf so that another child, adult or a family commuting in our community or nearby cities won’t be a victim of Mr. Calero’s reckless and endangering behavior. We asking for justice to be served.
Thanking you in advance for your timely and civic response in this matter. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Community Voice
