The problem i would like to solve is the fact that lane splitting in Oklahoma is illegal. We need to make it legal because it will help rider safety and decrease the amount of crashes and fatalities during the riding season. Think about this for second; according to recent studies and statistics, rear ended accidents compose more than 35% percent of ALL traffic accidents on the road whether in a car or on a bike. Lane splitting allows riders to safely protect themselves from the inattention of other drivers because they're IN-BETWEEN the lanes not in them. There is no such thing as a "fender bender" on a motorcycle and lane splitting can help reduce motorcycle deaths. Also, lane splitting and filtering decreases traffic time for everyone as well, because during stopped traffic riders filter through to the front of the line and get away much faster than cars can. It also means we have the advantage, the widest point on most of our bikes is 2-3 ft 2 feet less than the average distance in between lanes, also since we sit higher up and have a clear and unobstructed view of the road ahead we take control by being able to see farther and when cars are trying to merge or change lanes. Also almost everywhere else in the world lane splitting is legal because they realize the benefits of lane splitting.
