Ever since early last year, there has been a rumor swirling around that Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are teaming up to co-produce a Spider-Woman movie set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). That rumor now has a stronger presence with the hiring of Olivia Wilde as the director for an untitled female-centric Marvel movie, with her hinting on her Twitter page with a spider emoji, suggesting that's indeed the original Spider-Woman that first debuted in Marvel Comics in February 1977 (Marvel Spotlight #32). The rights to the character are shared between the two studios, as has been leaked by the Sony email hack back in 2014. 

Jessica Drew is a British-born superhero that has little-to-no connections to Spider-Man himself, other than the moniker and a few power sets. She has a total different personality from Spider-Man, and in the comics she was associated with S.H.I.E.L.D., S.W.O.R.D., the Avengers and even HYDRA. She is also depicted to be the best friend to Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers).

The most popular fancast regarding the role ever since 2015 has been Daisy Ridley, they have been clamoring for her to be cast in this and she has more than proven to be perfect for the part. She is athletic, smart, witty and badass, has the looks and ticks all the boxes that Spider-Woman requires. 

So from us fans to Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, hopefully this petition will shine through and spread the word so we can make this dream a reality!
