Hello fellow collectors, 

Since we have now seen what Marvel Legends new packaging looks like, most (if not all) can agree it is not best for all of us. There are two types of collectors, those who open the items and those who keep the items in box to display. For each collector the cons far outweigh the pros for the consumer and it needs to change back or be altered. I understand this is environmentally friendly and helps cut costs for the manufacturer but as the consumer we expect our voice to be heard.

This new packaging style is not a one size fits all and that’s what we expect when change happens to improve the product for the customer, not just the manufacturer. There are issues all the way around from a theft perspective, paint apps for those who open their items and for those who do not open their items it’s about display purpose. Let’s dive into this for one moment. 

The package is completely sealed and all cardboard to save on plastic and cut down on cost. This sounds good in theory but leaves the customer to guess if the item is what they say it is. For those who open their items it leaves a lot of questions from is this what I want? Does the picture match the item inside? For those who prefer to leave it closed, is this item really even in there? Why should I spend my money for an item I cannot see? 

There is a happy medium for the customer and manufacturer. Instead of having the package completely sealed with no plastic they can alter the design to eliminate most plastic. Below are couple examples: 

1. Inside the package they can replace the plastic the toy is housed in with cardboard and cut down the front view plastic cover by 50%. This lets the customer see what they are purchasing while eliminating excess plastic. 

2. Eliminate all plastic inside and still have the front view be all plastic so customer can see what they are buying and it displays well for those who choose not to open. 

In closing, there are ideas available and other ways this item can go to market to address this problem that most of the customers unhappy about. It’s up to the manufacturer to listen to the customer and figure out a way to meet in the middle.
