Martin Dixon MP and Premier Dennis Napthine: Build a high school for SKY
Melbourne's Seddon, Kingsville and Yarraville (SKY) community is experiencing unacceptably long waiting lists for child care, full kindergartens and over-crowded primary schools. Although we’ve been calling on the State Government for a decade to address our concerns, little has been done.
In 2012, the Education Department commissioned a review of demand for secondary school places - that was based on flawed data - and concluded that there weren’t enough potential students to warrant a new, local high school.
We know there are 2,000 students enrolled in our primary schools and we know if those children go on to public high schools at the present rate we will break through the Education Department’s threshold for a new local school.
Our children, families and community need a local high school to fill the education black hole in SKY. We urge you to sign the petition to get Spring Street to listen.
