The Issue

Skittles is known as one of America's favorite candies. Eight years ago, Skittles made the best decision in their history. They replaced the least exciting flavor with a new flavor bursting with goodness. The switch from lime to green apple delighted many fans worldwide, me included.

Over the years, green apple lovers like me may not have been vocal (like lime-supporters), possibly because our mouths have been too busy tasting the rainbow and loving it. But we've consistently voted with our wallets. Skittles has become the top-selling non-chocolate chewy candy with over $300 million in sales.

The recent announcement of green apple’s demise crushed me with overwhelming confectionary grief. I just can't bring myself to conduct a funeral for my favorite flavor, who is meeting an early fate at only eight. Something must be done. Green apple can and should be saved.

Grape, strawberry, orange and lemon are amazing flavors, but green apple perfectly completes their family. I am pleading with Mars and their CEO Mr. Grant F. Reid to find a way to rescue green apple skittles from an untimely fate, and restore the hopes and hungry taste buds of passionate fans around the world.

A current online poll at skittles.com shows a nearly 50-50 split between voters of green apple and lime. In an increasingly polarized world, now is not the time to disappoint and divide people. Mars is a smart company, known for putting smiles on millions of faces. Surely they can find a creative way to save green apple skittles and keep our mouths watering for their unmatched flavor. Please help me restore taste to the rainbow by saving our delicious green apple skittles.
