Currently there are seven options (plus a secret one) when reacting to messages in the Facebook Messenger app, these are; heart, laugh, shock, cry, anger, thumbs up and thumbs down (plus the special purple heart unlocked from holding down the heart react icon). This mechanic has allowed group chats to function on a higher level than previously possible in chat messenger applications and has created treasured memories for many. There has already been edits to the react options in the main Facebook app with the additional of the controversial 'care' react which has received much criticism and distain from the Facebook community.

I am asking you, Mark Elliot Zuckerberg, to add the eyes emoji as a message reaction option in the Facebook Messenger app. The eyes emoji, which may initially appear as just part of the facial features collection, has proved to hold an almost infinite world of possible meanings through its many applications. The emojipedia notes that it is "Sometimes used to indicate ‘pervy eyes’ to indicate approval of an attractive photo posted online; or ‘shifty eyes’ to convey a deceitful act.". The side eye is invaluable move to be able to make during social encounters be it to connect with another without the use of sound or to introduce an unspoken punchline to a joke. It brings a human experience into the digital world of online messaging and in a time when many of us have been isolated and social distanced, the world needs this more than ever!
