Steven Charles, who runs Rocktown and an associated nonprofit, Rocktown Youth, said he was informed this week the property owner, Mark Ruffin, was not willing to renew the lease after Jan. 1." The climbing community and people of Oklahoma City are devastated to hear the news that Rocktown's lease will not be renewed. We love what the current leadership at the gym does. We love the community impact this iconic business has on the Oklahoma City area. We love Rocktown Youth's purpose and the positive impact it has on area youths. We consider this change detrimental to Oklahoma City and the lives impacted by the non-profit organization- Rocktown Youth. You have the power to change this situation. The lease has been sold out from under Rocktown to another gym owner- Aaron Gibson. This will leave Rocktown Youth Mentoring homeless and without it's primary source of funding support starting Jan 1. Mark's actions to squeeze out Rocktown jeopardizes the work that impacts over 100 local, high-risk children in the OKC area. We need this organization. We want the current gym ownership to stay put. We demand transparency from Mark Ruffin!
