In 2018, my (transgender) female friend Ruby killed herself due to intolerance in her home and school life. She was a kind, caring soul who was fun to be around and just wanted to live out her dreams of fully being able to transition. She was improperly buried as “Gavin” instead of her preferred name Ruby.
